Rather than watching the tea get dumped in the harbor as had happened. The law excised the company from paying certain duties and permitted it to bypass the wholesalers and sell tea directly to american agents. It was an act established on 1773 by the british parliament that stated that the east indian company would have to cruise directly to the american colonies to export their tea instead of going first to britain and then export it again to the same colonies. In the tea act of 1773, parliament left the american import duties in place but decreed that the east india company would no longer have to pay parliament responded to widespread colonial protests and boycotts of the taxed items by repealing the townshend taxes in 1770, except for the tea duty.
